Welcome to the new official website of South Sudan General Medical Council (SSGMC).
I am delighted to announce that the SSGMC website is finally active and it will be the hub of all SSGMC activities and communications to the public, patients, health professionals, health care institutions, partners and other stakeholders.
The SSGMC is the body responsible for regulating medical practice in South Sudan. This applies to both medical institutions and health professionals, namely; Doctors, Pharmacists and Dentists. Therefore, we have begun inspecting health facilities in the country, both public and private, and are closing down any facility that doesnât meet the minimum requirements. As pertaining the health professionals, we continue to call on all who do not hold a valid medical license to register with the council, otherwise, continuing to practice without the necessary qualifications and license is illegal. We also remind all health institutions both public and private to adhere to the Councilâs resolutions and ensure that all their medical employees are registered with the SSGMC.
The SSGMC licensing examinations will be conducted biannually, in April and November. All doctors who have completed their internship are welcome to undertake the exam.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the National Ministry of Health for hosting the SSGMC in its premises and all parties that have been of support to us, including the WHO South Sudan Office for sponsoring our inaugural meeting.
